Frequently asked questions
What does "high flash point" mean and why does it matter?
A higher flash point means the paint gives off ignitable vapour only at higher temperatures. On site this lowers fire risk, makes storage and transport easier and is safer in factories and confined spaces. See each product’s Safety Data Sheet for exact values.
Which product should I use on steel?
For general steel use CL ACR 11 primer with CL ACR 13 topcoat. For heavy-duty or large structural steel, CL ZRP 21 Lite is an economical epoxy primer. Contact us if you are unsure.
Can I paint stainless steel, galvanised steel or aluminium?
Yes. CL ETC 11 Universal Primer is formulated for smooth, hard-to-adhere metals, and CL ACR 13 can be applied over it.
How should I prepare the surface?
Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of oil, rust and loose paint. For steel, abrasive blast to Sa 2½ or power-tool clean to St 3 is recommended. The full instructions are in each product’s TDS.
